5 More Anime I Think You Should Watch

In my last article on the anime I think you should definitely check out I said I would try and make more lists as we all have different tastes. So, as promised, I’m bringing more anime to you for you to check out and get hooked on watching! This time I’m hoping to add a bit more diversity with this list for everyone.

1. Ouran High School Host Club (comedy)

The series follows Haruhi Fuijioka, a middle-class scholarship student at Ouran High School, a school filled with the rich and elite from all over which makes Haruhi very rare. While searching for a quiet place to study Haruhi stumbles into a quiet music room which is later revealed to be a club room for the Ouran Host Club.
It’s a club filled with super-wealthy boys, with incredibly good looks, who entertain their female students (trust me, it’s not as creepy as it sounds… it’s more like hosting tea parties and making the girls smile). As she tries to retreat and leave the room filled with overly attractive boys, Haruhi knocks over a very expensive vase worth ¥8 million (about $76,000!!) which is waaaay more than she can repay. She is then forced to work for the host club as their “errand boy” to repay her debt.
Through her hard work and natural talent, she is soon promoted from the clubs errand boy into a full-time club host. However, it’s not all happy go lucky as things seem to the outsiders…

This is definitely the kind of anime I rush to when I need to laugh and just forget about a very long day. It’s filled with so much charm and jokes that it’s so easy to watch from the first episode. I highly recommend this one if you want something easy and fun to watch!

2. Rent-A-Girlfriend (Comedy, Romance)

Fun fact about this series, the creator and writer actually hired a rental girlfriend during Christmas to introduce to their parents during holidays to fully understand the exercise many men in Japan undergo. Now that’s some next level dedication!

The story follows Kazuya Kinoshita, a college student who got dumped after a month of dating his girlfriend. Heartbroken and questioning what he did wrong and tired of being alone he rents a girlfriend named Chizuru Mizuhara, the date goes well but he cannot help but feel like it’s all a forced act and it’s very easy for him to pick up on. He decides on hiring her for a second date where he decides to confront her. Chizuru loses her composure revealing herself as an actually scary, forward, and cold person… (but is that really who she is?). Completely different from the person she was from the first date where she was kind, warm, and affectionate!
While on their second date Kazuya gets a call that his grandmother has been rushed to the hospital. Forced to leave the date early Kazuya rushes to the hospital where his grandmother is while Chizuru accompanies him. At the hospital Kazuya’s grandmother is awake and looking well, she lights up like the moon when she sees Chizuru with her grandson. Ecstatic and proud as it’s been her wish for him to be in a serious relationship.

Now the two are forced to keep up their lie, at least until Granny recovers fully. However, it’s not all as it seems as the story is yet to finish and there are other rental girls mixed up in the story as well…

3. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime (Action and Adventure)

How overpowered can one become a tiny little slime become?

We are following the story through Mikami Satoru, a lonely 37 year old stuck in a job he hates, that will go nowhere. He’s unhappy, single, and depressed, he seeks excitement and adventure. After being fatally wounded by a robber he reawakes to a fresh start in a fantasy world as a tiny blue slime monster, which if you have ever played a JRPG game you will know as easy monsters to defeat in opening levels. However, with a new skill called “Predator” that allows him to eat and mimic anything he digests (as well as use their overpowered skills), this is a slime to be reckoned with!

In the dungeon he awakes in, he meets a Dragon named Veldora, a catastrophe-level Storm Dragon. Veldora was sealed away for 300 years because he destroyed a town. Somehow our slime protagonist sympathizes with the dragon and the two become friends. Their friendship turns into making a promise to free Veldora from his captivity by breaking the seal that binds him. As a thank you, Veldora names the slime ‘Rimuru Tempest’ granting him divine protection.

And so a new adventure awaits as Rimuru sets off to prove his worth to this brand new world. Rumors soon start spreading of the weird wonders a tiny little slime is accomplishing.
It might sound like a pretty complicated anime but I promise that it’s actually a fun little show filled with a lot of comedy! Especially when you see just how overpowered the little slime can get!

4. Another (Thriller, Horror)

Koichi Sakakibara seems to enjoy a good mystery as he finds himself fascinated with why his new classmates refuse to accept the presence of a mysterious young girl called Mei Misaki with short dark hair and an eyepatch.

In 1972 a very beautiful and talented sports student named Misaki passed away part way through the school year. Her classmates refused to accept that she is no longer with them and continued to act as if nothing had happened to her, keeping her desk clean and open as well as having her attend the graduation ceremony. So that’s why nobody can explain why she was present in the graduation photo… because Misaki is long dead and buried!!
Every year after this, gruesome and mysterious deaths kept happening to the pupils of this classroom until they figured out they had to ignore the existence of one of the pupils to appease the spirit haunting the room.

Fast forward to 1998 when things started changing as the arrival of a new student, Koichi Sakakibara threw everything off balance. He didn’t understand why everyone was ignoring this one girl and with every interaction, he makes with her he slowly pushes the class to the point of no return. It is only when bad unthinkable things start to happen to his classmates that they all start to see the truth…

I really enjoy horror anime but this one took me by surprise. The beginning few episodes felt a bit long and drawn out so I only got into the anime after I watched a couple of episodes. The wait is worth it as it really sets up the story and the scenes perfectly, so it is absolutely worth watching if you are looking for a good goosebump scary anime!

5. High School Of The Dead (Horror, Action, and Thriller)

The story follows a group of high school students, a school nurse, and a little girl as they fight their way through deadly streets overrun with the undead in Japan. However, not all is as it seems in a world now ruled by zombies as the teens still have time to have fun, laugh together, and make the best of what the world is throwing at them.
For our main hero, Takashi Komuro, the leader of the group, life can be rather complicated… before the outbreak, his best friend was dating the girl of his dreams. He sat in silence and watched them be happy, however on the day of the outbreak he has to deal with losing his best friend to the zombies and try and protect the girl he has had a crush on!
Throughout the show, we also meet other survivors such as Saeko Bisijima, the beautiful Kendo Club president with a desire to finally put her skills to the test. Saya Takagi the daughter of a very powerful politician, Kouta Hirano who has an obsession with firearms and their clumsy but breathtaking nurse/teacher.

Working together they somehow make it through the events that are thrown at them… but for how long can the group hold out?

This is definitely an anime I would recommend if you are looking for something short and to the point. There are quite a few sexy/ecchi scenes in this show, which isn’t what I normally like to see in a show so if you can look past those then the show is really good fun to watch!
Personally, I wished that they made another season, however, the writer passed away and the anime is left with us wanting more.

I enjoy watching anime and I know that there are so many more to be watched! Thankfully lockdown has granted me a lot of time to sit back, relax, and enjoy more shows that I can then recommend to you all! Hopefully, one of them grabs your attention and gives you a good few hours of entertainment to watch. If you have any anime you think I might enjoy watching please comment below and I’ll add it to my ever-growing list of must-watch shows :)
